The Decathlon 5k Sale Sizzlers, with chip timing, will be, as usual on thursday nights at 7:30pm over the summer.
As a result of your feedback (always greatly appreciated!), we’re introducing ‘HONESTY PENS’ into the Sizzlers start. We ask you to start your race within the zone appropriate to your anticipated finishing time. Be honest about this and resist the temptation to put yourself into a faster start zone. This greatly impedes other runners and puts yourself and the other runners at risk. The zones will be clearly marked signs 1 Sub 16 2 Sub 18 3 Sub 20 4 Sub 22 5 Sub 24 6 Sub 26
Because of this new arrangement we’re also making a slight change to how we award the prizes. · Overall winners (i.e. 1st 3 men women) will be awarded on GUN times as always · All other categories will be awarded on CHIP times (so no need for age-category runners to start from the front) We’ll be monitoring this new approach to see how it works and I welcome your feedback B. As previously published, thanks to GOLA SPORT who are providing 50 pairs of their top running shoes to participants (additional to their financial support). Ten minutes before race start, our all singing/all dancing electronic system will randomly select 12 of your race numbers.
I will then very quickly announce these at the race start and the lucky winners will pick up their voucher for these shoes at the beginning of prizes at 8pm prompt. Great! That’s it! See you next Thursday. We’re almost oversubscribed – again and fingers cross this good weather continues....even though my fruit and vegs are badly wilting for rain......................... but you come first!!!!!!!
The dates are -the 19th of July and the 2nd and 16th of August 2018. The online system is the prefered method of entry but entry forms for postal entries are available. Click here for form.
The series has grown every year in its seventeen year history to become iconic among the running community. In 2017 the race limit of 500 was reached in all four races so don’t leave it late to enter. The is a Sale Harriers promotion so if you’re unable to run, the club asks you to volunteer to help. There is always lots to do before and after each race – course set up, marshal, car parks, goody bags, drinks station, lead cyclist etc. Thank you.
