Primary Section Presentation Night.
The Primary section of the club based at Crossford Bridge take mainly children aged six up to thirteen, at which point many have found a specialist coach within the club or they can stay at Crossford as young helpers, assisting coaches run sessions for the younger athletes. The ways children are introduced are crucial in any sport to long term development. Gradually learning in an age appropriate settings and having fun is paramount.
On Saturday night at the Sale presentation night happiness was in abundance as over 100 young athlete’s collected individual medals and certificates. Trophies were also awarded to coaches and volunteers. All these were presented by young G.B. athletes Harriet Knowles Jones and Francesca Brint who started in the yellow colour groups at Crossford Bridge. Both athletes now train at Wythenshawe with Paul Roden who has developed into a brilliant coach.
After the presentations everyone tucked into food served by the staff of hosts Sale Rugby Club. Andy Dennison made his debut as master of ceremonies assisted by Christine Johnson and the event was organised with the help of Christine Tyrer. This nicely brings us to the subject of volunteering. Events such as this and all the coaching plus competitions at Crossford Bridge require a lot of people with different skills. Perhaps you could train as a coach or official? There are many other tasks you could help your club with too, especially on grounds keeping. Just ask Graham, Anne or any of the coaches who are regularly at Crossford Bridge.
Let’s hope the Gala Dinner for Seniors in January is as successful. Details can be found elsewhere on this site. Congratulations to all the team at Crossford Bridge.
