Annual General Meeting
Thank you to everyone who turned up at Crossford Bridge for our AGM. The evening went very well with the club financially stable and looking good for the foreseeable future. The highlight of the evening was the very exciting election of a new chair for 2018. The nominations were Nigel Breddy and Lisa Fletcher/Dean Hardman who were to be co-chair. The voting was made with the candidates out of the room. The voting went 13 votes each. A tie. It would come down to the acting chairman’s casting vote, which in this case was the very well respected David Brown CBE. The tension in the air was electric as we awaited his decision. The experience and loyalty of Dean and Lisa, against the business acumen and leadership qualities of Nigel. Seconds ticked by. Who would he choose. His vote goes to Nigel Breddy. Well done Nigel and we all look forward to working with you.
Commiserations to Dean and Lisa, who would I am sure made a superb co-chair. Dean will continue to act as vice Chairman and Lisa will remain as a member of the executive committee.
The usual business of an AGM went well with the financial statement showing a slight surplus with income from subs and ‘Sale hosted events’ bringing in more than was spent on training facilities, competition and admin.
A big thank you to those who contributed to the annual reports especially Dave Rodgers who wrote much of it, compiled it and printed copies out on the night. The report will appear on this website later.
Thank you to our auditor Peter Shipley. The club is hugely grateful for his contribution.
The only resolution of the evening to be voted on was the proposal to increase the subs from £50 a year for adult members to £55, (£30 to £35 for young members) with no change for under 11s. There are many additional costs and future plans that have necessitated this increase. The membership is still much lower than many other clubs.
Thank you to our acting chairman and master of ceremonies for the evening David Brown and to everyone else who helped make the evening a success.
