THE SAD DEATH OF SALE HARRIERS CLUB CHAIRMAN - JON MASON

Sale Harriers is reeling from the shocking and terribly sad news of the unexpected death of club Chairman Jon Mason. He had travelled to Santiago, Chile just a few days ago as a technical delegate for the Para Pan American Games and his death occurred whilst he was there.
In just his late 40's, his untimely and unexpected death is an inestimable and overwhelming loss to his family to whom the club extends its heartfelt condolences. His death is also a massive loss to Sale Harriers and to athletics. He was the club Chairman for the past 18 months progressively getting 'his feet under the table' showing great vision for the club's future.
John was especially well known and highly regarded as a highly experienced, enthusiastic and knowledgeable top level Track & Field official who only recently passed the World Athletics Silver Referee qualification. He was readily available and ever present at Track & Field matches from Regional and National leagues to the UK Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Most recently, he was selected as a top level technical Official for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
As more information becomes available we will let you know.
Deepest condolences to all who knew him
