After the 4th and penultimate match at Heaton Park, Sale look likely to medal in seven of the eight young athlete age-groups and have in fact already secured the U13 girl’s, U15 girl’s and U13 boy’s team titles.
JACK SPARK extended his unbeaten run in the U13 boy’s race to secure the individual league title and teamed up with FREDDIE MEREDITH, MATTHEW GARDNER and GEORGE NOBLE to win the team race. Our U13 girl’s team remains unbeaten and have now won the team title for five successive years. Our team consisted of JASMINE REED and SARA & AVA CLOUGH whilst CARMEN SAFRANAUSKAS, IZZY APPLEBY, HOLLY NEWTON and ELLIE GILDART were first B team
Our U15 girl’s team of TAYLOR EDWARDS, IZZY BURKE and JASMINE STOCKTON lost the team race by one point but had already done enough to win the overall team title whilst LIBBY HILL, AVA TAYLOR, OLIVIA BROWN and LUCY ARMITAGE were first B team. Our U15 boy’s team of WILL PARKER, LUKE CHINOY and CHARLIE TITTENSOR finished 5th in this match but should still finish 3rd in the overall team championships.
Our U17 women’s team of ALLYSSA DAVEY, ANOUSKA BROOKS, LAURA HOLE and NINA WILLIAMS finished 2nd and will finish runners up in the overall team championships provided they finish a team in the final match.
It was particularly encouraging that 23 members of the Primary Section represented the club in the U11 races. In the girl’s race, we showed great strength in depth with two teams in the first three out of nineteen teams. EVA KARALIUS, ISOBEL HALL and AVA BYGRAVE were 2nd to Stockport whilst OPHELIA JONES, BETH TITTENSOR and LIZ SINCLAIR were 3rd team (1st B team). We also finished 1st C, D, and E teams. Well done to IMOGEN HILL, MADDY HOLT, MEGAN JOHNSON, SCARLET WRIGHT, JESS TERRY, LILY OLDALE, SUZANNAH FORD, AMY YORK and ANNABELLE ARGYROPOULUS. We look likely to finish runners-up in the overall team championships.
In the U11 boy’s race, our team of BEN KEELEY, LIAM O’BRIEN and JAMES O’BRIEN ran well to finish 3rd out of eighteen teams and will finish 3rd overall with a similar result in the last match. Our B team of FRASER SINCLAIR, JOE SPARK and ALEX FRASER again won their category.
